Just as a life is lived stitch by stitch, or blow by blow, as the case seems to be in this wonderful book, "A Thread of Truth", Marie Bostwick has authored a very realistic book of life and of the lives of the characters she has portrayed. Her characterizations of Evelyn, Ivy, Abigail, Margot, Liza and all the others who appear therein are 'spot on'. I am a quilter, one who had breast cancer, and one who's early life was not 'perfect'. The quilting world as described in the Cobbled Court Quilt shop and the solid friendships of very diverse women who are united by their love of quilting is true to life. I've experienced that, myself, and continue to do so. Quilting is as much therapy as it is a practical, creative art. The story is very enlightening regarding abused women and is very detailed in that respect, within Ivy's story. I would hope that the lives of women like Ivy and her children would have the same kind of results as this story's end gives to them. Marie Bostwick has captured reality and has done it so beautifully and informatively! This was my first book of her series and is the 2nd one in it. From what I've learned, and from what the readers learn and will learn from this particular book, Women's shelters in our communities need much support and consideration. And the women and their children should be exalted for their bravery in getting out from under abusive relationships and need to be helped by those more fortunate to transition to happier and healthier lives. Quilters throughout this nation make quilts and other contributions for these Shelters and my we continue to do so. Thank you, Marie Bostwick, for your important work in the field of writing. So, now, off to read The Single Thread, the 1st in the Cobbled Court series. Thankfully, I had the good sense to order it along with this book from Amazon's e-book 'library' so I can begin it next.
